This National Park now has two Sectors to it, we chose to explore the Franceville Sector
The Reward: Spectacular panoramic views at the second highest viewpoint
Time of Year: There are two sectors: Observatory – opened all year round & Franceville – opened mid-May to mid-October
Entrance Fee: Yes
Number of Trails: Total of 3 trails
Chosen Hiking Trail: La boucle du Sentier des Cimes
Hiking Time: Approximately 5 hours
Level of Difficulty: Intermediate to difficult
Distance: 11.6 km (round trip)
Trail Conditions: Steep, rock/dirt, mostly shaded, accessible streams
Elevation: 835 m at viewpoint Pic de l’Aurore
Hiker Traffic: Medium
Drive from Montreal: Approximately 3 hours
Cellular Service: Scarce throughout the hike, at certain viewpoints you catch some service
Pets: No, only with the exception of service dogs and/or guide dogs
Restroom: Yes, only at the visitors center
TIPS: Bring lots of water and insect repellent! Hiking boots since it can get quite muddy.
