Looking for a relaxed activity to do with a loved one this summer? Well, the little-known Ferme Champy is the place for you! This picturesque sunflower field could be heaven for dedicated selfie seekers as you gaze upon the endless rows of bright yellow flowers in Upton, Quebec which sits approximately an hour from Montreal.
Held once a year and depending on the weather, Ferme Champy hosts “des tournesols plein les yeux” (French for “sunflowers in the eyes”) an event where you will be able to walk among the flowers as they delight you with their beauty. Oh, and for a measly $5, you won’t be trespassing on private property in order to “do it for the gram” (free for children under the age of 12). The farm is open from 9am-5pm, after 5pm the kiosk is closed but you can still stay and enjoy the flowers. What we found extraordinary was the abundance of busy bees who took no notice to us at all! With their only focus being the nectar found within these yellow beauties, you’ll be able to enjoy your stroll and photo shoot sessions without the fear of being stung! Always a plus when we can co-exist peacefully with other species and with bumble bees being so important, we must leave them do what they do best!
Unfortunately they are only opened to the public for 1 week; with this year’s dates being July 30th to August 5th 2018.
