THE PERFECT MICRO CABIN
As a species, humans tend to want more than they need. As the saying goes, “We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.” Now, this isn’t an article about how to live with less, but an article to show you that you can somehow have less, but experience more!
This is where this tiny little house right outside Mont-Tremblant comes in. Measuring no more than 10 x 6 feet (calculated by eye, I don’t bring measuring tapes on trips), this tiny little house had everything someone could possibly need in a home, all crammed into approximately 60 square feet. Equipped with a full kitchen that includes a stove, toaster oven, fridge and a sink, an ecological toilet, double bed, counter to eat on and a 32” HD TV, this tiny bundle of joy is an awesome accommodation for couples looking to get away for a night.
Surrounded by forestry, there’s no lack of privacy here. When you pull up to the location, you’ll find a rock driveway that seems to lead nowhere and will have you thinking you’re in the wrong place. Trust me, we drove into and out of the parking spot twice and asked a fellow neighbor before we finally figured it out. Just passed the driveway and behind a pile of rocks, you’ll find a narrow path of about 30-40 meters long through the private forest surrounding the house. The house is situated on 10 acres of land which can be explored both in the summer and in the winter.
The property does have one setback which is only an issue during the sizzling summer months and it’s that it isn’t equipped with a fan or A/C unit. The property is extremely well insulated that when the sun is beaming outside, it tends to heat up inside (we would know). It’s easily rectifiable though as there are numerous outlets to plug things into. A fire pit is readily available with the fire wood already chopped up, and a propane BBQ perched up on the deck ready for use. It truly does have everything you need.
Once inside, you’re taken aback by the ingenuity that lies within the 4 walls. The layout is so intelligently designed that describing it wouldn’t be enough. You’d have to be there to believe it (or just, you know, check our pictures out).
The tiny house is extremely cozy and warm, however be warned, if you like your personal space, this isn’t the place for you. But if you and your significant other are inseparable, then by all means, try something new and take this tiny house for a spin!
Side note: Now, I’m fully aware you don’t want to take a trip to just sit inside 4 walls all day, so here’s what’s nearby for you to explore. The house is located about 25 minutes from Parc National du Mont-Tremblant and 7 minutes from downtown Mont-Tremblant. So, if your itinerary looks anything like ours did, you’ll probably hike in the morning, make your way to check-in at 4, and then head out for supper or activities downtown shortly after!
